Situated in the serene waters of the Malacca Straits and gracefully extending off the west coast of peninsular Malaysia in a magnificent palm tree formation lies the spectacular Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort.

Exploring Malaysia is a constant thrill for us, there is so much to see and do in this tropical nation that, although we’ll be living here for the next year and a bit, we simply won’t even get close to seeing it all. We drove up from our home in the south of the country and were excited at the thought of spend the next while soaking in the sun whilst relaxing beside the pool at the Avani resort.

Location:

The Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort is located relatively near to the Sepang F1 Grand Prix Circuit and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport making it an ideal location if you’re in town to see the Formula One but it’s also far away enough to get that “city break” feeling. The resort is much larger that I had imagined and once you are “on/in” it you never feel the need to leave.

Facilities:

There are motorized golf carts buzzing back forth to the main hub where the pool, restaurants and spa are – for your convenience. Alternatively you can get wherever you want to go by bicycle. We loved the bicycle experience as did many other of the guests and their kids.

We were impressed at the tremendous amount of facilities that the resort had such as the pool, relaxing sunbeds, private beach area, beach pool, hammocks, water sport equipment available, evening entertainment, spa, yoga classes, Zumba classes and much, much more. You definitely won’t get bored here. They also offer tour packages which can be purchased.

Interior:

The pricing starts at around $180(US) per night for a superior room. They offer family villas, two bedroom villas and three bedroom villas too. The room is decked in wooden fittings, comfortable lounging facilities and comes with a balcony, the view from which is breath taking. We felt that they provided a satisfactory amount of facilities for the price but nothing in our room really stood out as exceptional.

Food:

There is a selection of restaurants to satisfy your every palette. The selection at breakfast was decent and only things we missed were bacon and good espresso. We found the main restaurant / breakfast area to be a very hands-on affair and if you don’t take charge in finding a waiter you may not get served any time soon.

Overall experience:

Our time at Avani ended too soon, two nights were simply not enough to enjoy all that they have to offer. We were enthralled at the chance to cycle whimsically through and around the resort, exploring the “trunk and large fronds” that the rooms are built on and sneaking off to get a great view of the sunsets, which are magnificent here. We were relaxed, happy and feel that overall, Avani is a special place. This is definitely a family resort though; we were hopelessly outnumbered by the young Malaysian and Singaporean children having an absolute blast. To me this added to the fun and relaxed atmosphere that pervaded through the resort.

Our time was not without incident however and the Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort definitely has some areas I would like to see improved during our next visit.
